Here's some motorsport venue news that I've collected in my research for grand prix cities over the years. From here you can go back in the history of this fine website and you'll find tidbits of travel information, exciting changes to motorsport schedules especially venues and other website news that might be of interest for the sports traveler, a kind of blog of thoughts and ambitions. Of interest might be if some of my predictions are true. Not many consultants want their chrystal balls out in the open, but here goes. Knock your self out. If you've got some news that you'd like me to add to the current news page, let me know via the contact link in the left column.

2007 motorsport travel news

October 2007 I've been frantically busy working Hotels near the airport just adding a huge new section offering Airport Hotels by IATA Code with over 2,000 world entries. Phew. And that hot on the heals of the opening of Hotels near big ticket venues. Means the upcoming winter racing break comes just at the right time. Congratulations to Casey Stoner and his MotoGP title, and to James Toseland for his second WSBK title. James of course moves to MotoGP for 2008 where I have no doubt he will continue his collection of world level Championships. Well done guys!

September 2007 Herman Tilke, renowned, well some folks have heard of him, slot car track designer, is said to have placed his stamp of approval on possible location for an indian formula one grand prix track site. Indian Olympic Association Cheif Suresh Kalmadi revealed today papers have been signed regarding a location in Gurgaon, India - upsetting long held plans and rumours of a track in Hyberbad. India hopes to have an f1gp by 2009, but 2010 is more likely.

May 2007 Finally found a pic of the layout of the proposed Singapore Formula One Grand Prix Track. The downtown street race is rumored for inclusion in the 2008 Formula 1 Schedule along side a downtown harborside grand prix in Valencia Spain (this one scheduled for the season closing event) and the reinclusion of a San Marino race at Imola Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari

April 2007 To extend the travel (and information) theme of grand prix cities I have begun a new section of city travel guides focusing on Best Hotels and Best Tickets of randomly chosen cities around the world. The first such guide is for Ljubljana Slovenia Best Hotels, Ljubljana is a city I know very well and one world travelers may well love to learn more about and visit. Each guide will include comprehensive travel and cultural related links and information. Contributions of travel tips and suggestions of focus cities are welcome. See my contact link left. Enjoy this new series where I broaden the notion of what is a Grand Prix City.

I read with interest that next week we are to learn about a brand new motorsport racing series called the Superleague Formula Championship (SFC ?). F1-style 200mph, 750-horsepower single-seater racing cars clothed in the liveries of European Football (Soccer) Teams are to race around competing on the track as they do on the pitches of Europe. Leading European teams such as AC Milan of Italy, PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto of Portugal and Olympiakos Of Greece are to be represented. Racing is to begin in 2008. I'll have a schedule posted as soon as I hear of it.

In other news today the Kingdom of Bahrain announced that it's hosting of Formula 1 testing at it's Bahrain International Circuit has proven a boon for the Island Kingdom's Economy.

March 2007 Singapore proposes a formula one event through its streets - under lights. Stay tuned. A prelimiary test run though the proposed street lay out is to be carried in a Porsche 911 GT3 out by Australian formula one driver, Mark Webber. When the test is to be is not certain but it ought to do wonders for traffic in the downtown area, which is already insane. Wonder if this idea will be as long in the making as the proposed Indian formula one grand prix in Hyderabad or as special as the rumored next venue for the French Grand Prix, Paris Disneyland?
