If you've got some news that you'd like me to add to the current grand prix cities news page, let me know via email.

* 071504: > If you're in London next week you might want to consider visiting Regent Street on Tuesday when several Formula One Cars are set to hit the streets in a publicity stunt. Among drivers parading these vehicles will be Christiano da Matta, Nigel Mansell, Luca Badoer, Jenson Button, Zsolt Baumgartner, Juan-Pablo Montoya, David Coulthard, & Martin Brundle. I'm hearing that there won't be much vantage or autograph oportunities since the thing is a publicity stunt for television, conceived to convince the world that F1 isn't really "a boring parade". I'm guessing, though, that even without the ferrari's in attendance, and probably because Takuma Sato wasn't invited (Go Taku-san!),there won't be any overtaking at this parade either. The determined amongst you may be able to get closer to the action. Send some pics if you do!
Speaking of jolly old England, If you're staying through the end of next week and headed to Silverstone for the F1GP on July 11th, consider avoiding the traffic home and staying on for a concert by the famous Beach Boys on Becketts Corner. The concert starts at 5pm and is a measure put in place to break up the exodus from the circuit, which every year causes headaches, and another boring parade, for British race fans. > Turns out Imola Circuit may still get to host an F1 Grand Prix in 2005. Talk is that there will be 19 events in the Formula One Calendar, still half as many as on the NASCAR Schedule. I'll post any dates I hear of on my race events schedule page. So far I've learned of provisional dates for the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona & the U.S.G.P. at Indy .

I read that as of yesterday all tickets including grandstand and general admission, for the Grand Prix du Canada in Montreal are Sold Out. Strange, since the city of Montreal was all but left for abandoned by the F1 Fraternity earlier in the year and ticket prices are a whopping 25% average more expensive than 2003. Only General Admission tickets are still available for a limited time from the official website. If you're still looking for a grandstand seat (but be prepared to pay!) check out my grand prix ticket store . In Montreal, Check out also Bridgestone activities in Peel Street during the GP weekend, and of course my full guide to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

If you're off to Pocono Speedway for the NASCAR racing on August 1, 2004, you might be interested in the Crew Cheif Cook Off Competition that's to take place in the infield area of the track on July 30 at 5:30p.m. Heck if you were really keen, you could even judge the event!

> Will the Seoul South Korean Champ Car Grand Prix run as scheduled in October. Autoweek thinks there may be a problem with getting the innaugural event up.

If you're headed to Silverstone for the British Formula One Grand Prix in July, take note that a special brochure of race weekend traffic closures and redirections will be available for your information. This is in an effort to turn around one of the biggest criticisms of the antique circuit.

* 060904: The round of the Superbike World Championship at Silverstone this coming weeked is on track to be an historic event. Race 2 on Sunday 13th June will be the 400th World Superbike race to be held since the Championship started in 1988 and ironically the very first round took place in the UK too.
The first World Superbike event took place at Donington Park in April 1988 and the first race there was won by Italian rider Davide Tadozzi, who is today manager of the Ducati Fila World Superbike Championship-leading team, but then riding a Bimota. Honda rider Fred Merkel from the USA was to be the first Champion that year. Donington continued to be a venue for the British round, being joined by Brands Hatch in 1993, until 2001 when it was replaced by Silverstone as the preferred venue in 2002. Although the 400th race will take place at Silverstone, this will not be the 200th round as at two rounds, Le Mans 1988 and Philip Island 2001, only one race was held at each. Thus Oschersleben last month had the honour of hosting the 200th round.
Over the 17 years of the world championship, rounds of SBK have been held at 39 different circuits in 20 countries. Of those circuits Sugo, Japan has held most races with a total of 16, second place goes to Donington, UK with 15, third place, with a total of 14, is a tie between Phillip Island in Australia and Misano, San Marino. Monza comes fifth with 13 and Hockenheim sixth with 12 races run there.
"The Superbike World Championship has always run on the most prestigious circuits. Furthermore, we have developed very worthwhile long-term relationships with many top circuits around the world and this has contributed to the overall success of the Championship since its inception," said FGSPORT CEO, Paolo Flammini.
