Here's some motorsport venue news that I've collected in my research for grand prix cities over the years. Here's the 2004 collection. From here you can go back in the history of this fine website and you'll find tidbits of travel information, exciting changes to motorsport schedules especially venues and other website news that might be of interest for the sports traveler, a kind of blog of thoughts and ambitions. Of interest might be if some of my predictions are true. Not many consultants want their chrystal balls out in the open, but here goes. Knock your self out. > * 011704: Tickets for both Nextel Cup Events at Michigan International Speedway go on sale on February 7, 2004, 9am EST. Get your tickets quick, and from the Michigan International Speedway official website or call 1-800-354-1010 to save bucks on what a ticket agency will mark up. The last 25 NASCAR races at MIS were sold out and there's no thinking this next pair won't! Michiganders love their motor racing. Can't find the Michigan Speedway NASCAR Tickets you need, try this ticket resource and find, if you're quick and lucky Hotels near Brooklyn, MI which lists at least 10 towns / cities within 30 miles of MIS.

> * 011704: You've got until January 31st to get your Canadian Formula One Grand Prix in Montreal tickets at 2003 prices. After that the price goes up. If you're going, take this chance to save a few bucks by buying from the official website. Once you're there for the weekend the savings stop. > * 011604: The French Formula One Grand Prix at Magny Cours will be on July 11, 2004. This is after much more on again off again than even the French are used to.

> * 011504: While in Indianapolis this year, do the popular Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Grounds Tour. Going to Indianapolis for motorsports this year? Over a million race fans are. Check out my Indy guide or find a list of the best Indianapolis Hotels

> * 011404: The SH1T about to hit the fan over outstanding debts following the Champ Car Grand Prix of Miami. Before a race comes to any town it's always about tourism and bringing money and blah blah. The moment the trailers are packed away the bun fights start. Nothing but trouble.... Newcomers (Hyberbad, Bahrain, Shanghai, Kurtkoy, Moscow... etc etc...) to the glamorous life promised riches and excitements by the rich and exciting beware - Many pregnancies are left in the wake of a circus... > * 011304: An IROC (International Race of Champions) event for Richmond International Raceway on September 9 (the Thursday before the NASCAR event) this year? Nice. Source: Richmond Times Dispatch

> * 011204: Heading to the Atlanta Cycle World International Motorcycle show this coming weekend? I am. See you there.

> * 011004: This year's motorsport travel starts for me in Detroit for the 2004 North American International Auto Show. If you're coming bring your coat and hat and long johns and bullet proof vest. It is COLD in the Motorcity, with temperatures this coming week expected to be in mid-teens F! As with last year opening night was marred by violence downtown as people left the Cobo Hall at closing time. The show continues until the 011904. Look for some pics in the next few days. > * 010604: NASCAR pre season testing begins today at Daytona International Speedway. This is the first 3 day session. Drivers on track will be will defending 2003 champion Matt Kenseth, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick and 2002 Winston Cup Champion Tony Stewart. Next week's session will include Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman and the Labonte brothers (Bobby and Terry). Admission is free! See you there.

> * 010604: While parking will remain free at NHIS Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire for NASCAR events, organizers announced today that there will be a charge for RV parking during 2004 Nextel Cup events starting with June's. Source: New Hampshire Union Leader

> * 010504: (Super Kart USA) announced its 2004 SKUSA schedule. The series begins Superkarting in pretty Jacksonville, Florida on March 19-21.

> * 010104: Henry Jones over at Historic Mustang.com called to let me know that he'd finished his respectful tribute to the now abandoned Augusta International Raceway. The site will be the official online home of The Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society, which received approval on December 17th for a memorial to be placed in Diamond Lakes Regional Park (in the infield of the former road course). This memorial will honor the drivers and the track. The special section of his site includes a virtual tour around the entire truck. Must see for historic racing and track afficiandos. If you're headed Augusta way for the Masters Golf in 2004, take a little time to visit what remains of "Augusta's other course". Find a listing of Georgia Tracks
