From I-85 North of Charlotte, tkae Exit 49 (Speedway Blvd.).. You'll find the track on Concord Pkwy. South (Hwy 29). There's usually free parking at the track but easier parking in someone's front yard (usually runs about $15-$20) or about a mile away northeast of the track (on Concord Parkway). There are also businesses in that direction that let you park in their lots (for money, of course). If you're coming from Charlotte (south of the track), it's far better to take North Tryon Street (Route 29) and park at that end of the track than to take Highway 85 to Speedway Blvd. In fact, in any direction, it's best to avoid Speedway Blvd. From the North, try to exit Hwy. 85 and take back roads like Pitts School Road to Concord Parkway. Get a good map of the area (above) before you leave your hotel. see below for DOT links regarding construction and road closures.
RV Parking and Camping at this track? ???
Check with the speedway regarding infield RV Camping. Regarding hotels, it's most fun to stay in Mooresville, NC Hotels because that's where a lot of race teams and race related stuff is. There are many motels along Highway 77 that are perfectly acceptable, but if you want to make a real vacation out of it, try renting a house or finding a house or hotel near Lake Norman (Cornelius), NC (about 15 miles). This is especially true if you are going for The Nextel Cup race and staying the next week for the Coca-Cola 600.

NOAA Charlotte Concord NC Weather and Radar. For the May event, expect rain. Bring a rain poncho to the race for sure! In October, it can be absolutely beautiful or wickedly cold.

Lots of Bars and Restaurants in and around Mooresville that are fun and lively (and where you might see race crews or drivers): Consider Vinnie's Sardine Grill & Raw Bar, Lake Norman Brewing Company, Minnie & Mooch, or the Southend Brewery & Smokehouse.

> MUST DO: During the May race weekend, make time to check out the 600 Festival a tradition in downtown Charlotte (on Speed Street) for around a quarter century. There is lots of food, racing related freebies, bands, etc. It goes on for the few days before the race.
> Visit the Hendrick Motorsport Museum and team shops on Papa Joe Hendrick Blvd.
The big area for race team workshops is in Mooresville. While others are spread out around the area, many are located in an industrial park in Mooresville. Located there are Penske, Robert Yates, Jasper, MB2 shops. Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI) is nearby too, and very popular, so during race week, so expect to wait in line for at least an hour to get in.

Asheville, NC a very pretty town in the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can tour the Biltmore Estate or just hang out downtown.
Or visit Concord Mills, where you'll find a big shopping mall with a NASCAR Speedpark.
Nature lovers might consider fishing, etc. on Lake Norman (see above for Lake Norman Hotels) where you can rent boats or other watercraft for use on the lake from the Lake Norman Marina
